Sports Hall of Fame

The Hempstead High School Hall of Fame is announced each fall in the month prior to the Homecoming football game.

Nominations are taken at any time throughout the year. The Hall of Fame committee meets the first week of June of each year and reviews all nominations that been submitted. A voting process takes place with the nominated candidates and new class is selected each year for the upcoming fall.

Submit a Nomination

The candidates selected for entry into the Hall of Fame will be contacted in June and will be invited to attend the Hall of Fame activities and ceremony that will take place over the Homecoming weekend in the upcoming fall.

Candidates for membership in the Dubuque Hempstead High School Hall of Fame must meet the following criteria:

  1. For a candidate nominated as a student.
    1. former Dubuque Hempstead High School student who has documented outstanding performances in high school with a graduation date ten or more years previous to the current year.
    2. A former Dubuque Hempstead High School student who has documented outstanding past or current contributions to Dubuque Hempstead Senior High School.
    3. A former Dubuque Hempstead High School student who has documented outstanding past or current contributions to their community.
    4. A former Dubuque Hempstead High School student who has documented outstanding past or current contributions to their occupational field.
  2. For a candidate nominated as an administrator, faculty, or staff member.Faculty or staff must have served ten or more years at Dubuque Hempstead High School and have been retired for at least 5 years previous to the current year, and have been recognized in one or more of the following areas:
    1. Innovations in the profession and/or in classroom/district.
    2. Leadership within the district.
    3. Mentoring (colleagues, parents, or students).
    4. Impact on students of Hempstead (number and curriculum).
    5. Impact on the profession.
    6. Years of service/years of Hempstead service.
    7. His or Her volunteer efforts in the district.
  3. For a candidate nominated as a community member:
    1. Having volunteered his/her time, finances etc. to making the Hempstead Community a better place.
